The
Omnicare Geriatric Pharmaceutical Care Guidelines, is the
nation’s first clinically-based, referenced formulary tailored
to geriatric patients. The
Guidelines was the first formulary to evaluate drugs not only on the
cost to payors, but also on their therapeutic effectiveness in
treating elderly residents.
Now in its
tenth edition, the Guidelines
rates medications as “Preferred,” “Acceptable” or
“Unacceptable” based solely on clinical variables applied to
the elderly.
The
GPCG are annually updated and distributed to UniCare facilities
and physicians. Each
new addition has more therapeutic classes, cross-class comparisons
and practice guidelines with positive outcomes as the focus.
